All of her details were so thought out and beautiful… right down to her crystal brooch bouquet made by her own hands! We started out the day at Prestonwood Baptist Church for a beautiful service and then headed to Old Red Courthouse for a wonderful reception. Thanks so much to Maria and Stephen for including me as part of their wedding! Our West Texas session was a blast! Luckily no Texas rattlers… but plenty of other things that either sting, cut or bite in the Texas landscape. It was fun to get to go out and meet Jessica’s parent’s and photograph on their beautiful farm. It was fun to see Jessica and Pedro out in the country and see them in an environment so far removed from the city. I have been blessed to know Jessica in the Dallas Wedding Market and work with her at the Magnolia Hotel. Needless to say I was honored when she asked me to be her photographer for their upcoming wedding. Here are some of my favorite images from their engagement session to share with you! Enjoy!

Thanks to David Edmonson, Luke Edmonson, Richard Sturdavent for your guidance and mentorship and a big thanks to Alter Van Duren for his “persuasion” on entering competition! I am a terrible failure as a painter and gave it up quite some time ago in college, but the desire to take an image beyond the expected and into the confines of the heart still drives me. Classic Dutch painters like Rembrandt and twentieth-century American painters such as Maxfield Parrish and Andrew Wyeth are a few of my classic influences. Combining those influences with modern-day culture and trends in the area of advertising, commercial photography and photojournalism where I have at much of my professional experience has equipped me with the influences and ability to achieve some of my personal creative goals as an artist. One of my favorite quotes is from Andrew Wyeth, “I search for the realness, the real feeling of a subject, all the texture around it… I always want to see the third dimension of something… I want to come alive with the object.” For me, I think he is addressing the physical environment of texture and dimension which, in the digital age, is something I continually make an effort to maintain. From time to time I will be posting images in the category of “Personal Creative Work” to share with you my personal projects for everyone to enjoy and comment on.

They attend Chase Oaks Church in Plano, so naturally that is where they were wed. Robert’s brother who Pastors at another church officiated the service. I have loved working with them from their Engagement Photography Session at the Angelika Film Center in Plano (where Robert proposed… rented out the entire theater and produced a movie that was “The Proposal”… followed by an immediate reception with their friends in the lobby… how fun is that!) to Elizabeth’s Bridal Photography at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Robert’s love of cars decorated the reception having a different car for each table’s theme. I had the chance to ride with Robert last year and wow does he know how to use a Porsche… fast! I am looking forward to a family portrait session with them as soon as we warm up and dry up outside! Thanks Elizabeth and Robert for the honor of capturing your wedding through my lens!
